Thailand stayed on course for a historic victory at the 2017 Nomura Cup after taking the lead in both individual and team events at Sungai Long Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

National team stars Kammalas Namuangruk (64), Atiruj Winaicharoenchai (68) and Kosuke Hamamoto (69) combined for 201 as the Thais moved to 44-under 604 overall after three rounds, 11 strokes ahead of defending champions Japan.

South Korea were third on 621, one shot in front of Australia, while New Zealand and Taiwan shared fifth place on 626 at the Asia-Pacific Golf Team Championship.

It was a much tighter affair in the individual event as a flawless 64 sent Kammalas to 16 under after 54 holes, two shots ahead of overnight leader Kazuya Osawa of Japan.

Afif Fathi of Malaysia was third on 203 while Japan's Daiki Imano (67), Sadom Kaewkanjana (70) and Atiruj shared fourth place on 205.

Thailand have never won the biennial tournament.
