SCG Muang Thong United bagged their first trophy of the year, trouncing Vietnam's Sanna Khanh Hoa 4-0 for a 7-1 aggregate victory in the Toyota Mekong Club Championship final at Supachalasai Stadium yesterday.

In the first leg match of the final, the Kirins defeated Sanna Khanh Hoa 3-1 in Hanoi on Dec 24.

It was once again a dominating performance by Muang Thong, who are hoping to reclaim the Thai League 1 title from arch rivals Buriram United.

Kirins coach Totchtawan Sripan fielded a squad loaded with first-choice players, including J.League-bound Teerasil Dangda, Heberty Fernandes and Theerathon Bunmathan.

After a goalless first half, the floodgates opened for the local team after the break.

Sanna started the second half in an impressive manner but after Youssouf Toure missed an early scoring chance, Muang Thong wrested control.

Their first goal came in the 53rd minute when Sarach Yooyen set up Adisak Kraisorn with a free kick and it only took them a few more minutes to double the lead with Totsawat Limwannasatien shattering the net.

The impressive Kirins picked up the third goal in the 77th minute when Heberty Fernandes opened the ball for Teerasil to make it 3-0 for the Thai League Cup champions.

Siroch Chatthong ended a long goal drought with a spectacular drive from the top of the box in the 88th minute, wrapping up a forgettable night for Sanna Khanh Hoa.

Meanwhile, Thailand midfielder Thitiphan Puangchan has added a new chapter to the local transfer history books by completing a move from Chiang Rai United to Bangkok Glass for 40 million baht.

The national team star has signed a five-year contract with Bangkok Glass, who finished fifth in Thai League 1 last season.

Thitiphan has become the second most expensive player in the Thai League history after Tanaboon Ketsarat, who moved from Muang Thong United to Chiang Rai United for a record sum of 50 million baht last year.

Thitiphan is the son of former Thailand player Phairoj Puangchan.

Thitiphan played for Muang Thong United from 2010-2016 before he was released to Suphanburi on loan during the year 2011.

Muang Thong sold him to Chiang Rai in 2016.
