The Thailand Golf Association hopes its golfers will become successful again at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

The country grabbed its first-ever Asian Games medals in golf at the 2014 tournament in South Korea where the Thais took home one gold (women's team), one silver (women's individual) and two bronze medals (women's individual and men's team).

TGA president Rangsrid Luxitanond said yesterday he was looking forward to his players winning the same number of medals at the Indonesia Games in August.

"We have been working very hard in an attempt to win at least the same number of medals we won four years ago," Rangsrid said.

"We will send our players to test the course [in Indonesia] and then find a similar course in Thailand for them to train on."

The TGA boss added that in recent years the Thais players had won a large number of international events including several titles at the Nomura Cup.

The team's best hope is 15-year-old sensation Atthaya Thitikul who won the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific title and was the low amateur at the ANA inspiration this year.

She was tied for 30th at the year's first major.

Last year, Atthaya won the Thailand Championship to become the youngest ever winner on the Ladies European Tour and then won both the team and individual gold medals at the SEA Games a few weeks later.
