Tanaboon Ketsarat was on Monday officially unveiled as a new signing by struggling Bangkok Glass, who have parted with a princely sum of 40 million baht to steal the Thailand midfielder away from Chiang Rai United.

Tanaboon, who was traded to Chiang Rai for a record amount of 50 million baht by former Thai League 1 champions SCG Muang Thong United two years ago, will wear the No.5 jersey at his new club.

The 24-year-old Tanaboon said yesterday at the Glass Rabbits' Leo Stadium: "I am very happy to become a part of Bangkok Glass."

Tanaboon has not seen any action on the field since getting injured late in the last season but he is expected to start for Bangkok Glass in the second leg of the league.

He said: "I am recovering from the injury and need to restore my confidence because during the past 7-8 months, I have only spent time on the sidelines.

"I have to regain fitness and right now, my injury is healing well, but I am not sure if I am ready for competitive football."

Tanaboon said he was not part of the transfer negotiations.

"I didn't have any say in the decision at all," he said. "Everything was agreed between the boards of the two clubs.

"People are saying that the transfer fee is very high, but I won't dwell on it. I just want to return to playing football."

Bangkok Glass coach Anurak Srikerd said: "We needed a good midfielder, so we approached Chiang Rai for Tanaboon. I am sure he will help strengthen our team.

"I have no plans to rush him into the comeback. We will only do it when he is fully fit and ready to play. We will give him the time he needs."

Sukhothai sack coach

Phairoj Bowornwattanadilok has become the 13th coach in the Thai League 1 to be sacked after Sukhothai sacked him following their 4-3 loss to SCG Muang Thong United in a drama-filled battle on Sunday night.

The decision followed Sukhothai's run of three straight losses which saw them plummet to joint 10th place in the league.

The 12 coaches to lose their jobs in the top flight earlier this year are: Drago Mamic (Chainat); Christian Ziege (Ratchaburi); Rene Desaeyere (Ratchaburi); Totchtawan Sripan (Muang Thong); Josep Ferre (Bangkok Glass); Scott Cooper (Police Tero); Sasom Pobprasert (Air Force); Goran Barjaktarevic (Chonburi); Wiriya Phaophan (Navy); Chamnan Praekuntod (Navy); Mixu Paatelainen (Ubon UMT); and Netipong Srithong-in (Navy).
