Thailand remain winless at home after losing to Turkey 3-1 at the inaugural FIVB Nations League at Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday.

The local stars fought spiritedly but the powerful Turkish team still proved too strong when it mattered most as they took the match 25-20, 30-28, 18-25, 25-19 in an hour and 50 minutes.

Turkey's second win this week and eighth overall kept them in firm reckoning for a berth in the final round.

Thailand, who were sitting a lowly 14th coming into the contest, were led by 16 points from Chatchu-on Moksri and 15 from captain Pleumjit Thinkaow.

Thailand lost all three games in Bangkok last week and went down to South Korea in the Pool 15 opener on Tuesday.

Thailand play Japan while South Korea face Turkey in the final games today.

Earlier, a masterclass from Yuki Ishii fuelled a rejuvenated Japan to a convincing 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-20) victory over a disappointing South Korea.

The star wing spiker was the standout performer with a game-high 15 points.

A misfiring South Korea appeared out of rhythm as underlined by captain Kim Yeon-Koung, who struggled to make an impact, and the team had to rely on the brilliance of Lee Jae-Yeong for respectability.

It was Japan's first victory of the fourth week after a tough loss to Turkey on Tuesday and moved them to an overall record of 5-6 -- the same ratio as South Korea who have lost five of their past six games.

Meanwhile, the United States continued their winning ways, overpowering Brazil 3-1 (25-23, 26-28, 25-21, 25-18) in Pool 14 action in Jiangmen, China.

However, the American's run of 25 straight sets ended when they lost the second set yesterday. But the US were still delighted to keep their overall run going -- they've now won nine in a row -- while stopping Brazil's streak of nine straight wins in the inaugural event.

The Americans (10-1) finish up round four with a match-up again China, while Brazil (9-2) play Russia today.

The top-five teams from the league rounds will join hosts China in the finals.
