In-form Apichaya makes it three titles in row

Apichaya Yubol shot a four-under-par 68 in the final round to win the sixth event of the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship season in Hua Hin yesterday.

The 16-year-old had a three-day total of 13-under 203, three ahead of Arisra Vechkama who also hit a final-round 68.

Wanchana Poruangrong came in third on 208 after a 69 at Black Mountain.

It is the third win in a row for Apichaya who took home 142,500 baht in prize money from the one-million-baht total purse.

"My putter worked well," said Apichaya.

"I am very happy to win three consecutive tournaments."

The Saraburi native made five birdies and one bogey in the final round.

Pinyada Kuvanun won the amateur title after firing a 68 for 210 and was joint fourth overall.

Pinyada, 22, is a third-year student at the University of Toledo in Ohio. She plans to turn professional after her graduation.

Thanrada Piddon was second in the amateur category on 212.

The next event on the Thai LPGA Tour will be held at Singha Park Khon Kaen from Aug 1-3.
