Buriram United's dream of sweeping all three domestic title was dashed on Wednesday night when they were dumped out of the Thai League Cup, suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bangkok Glass in the semi-finals.

This paves the way for Bangkok Glass to stake a claim for the first-ever national-level silverware in the club's history.

Buriram are still in with a chance to capture the FA Cup trophy as they are scheduled to take on second-division side Si Sa Ket in the semi-finals next Wednesday.

The Thunder Castle, who are all set to retain their Thai League 1 crown this year as they enjoy a massive nine-point lead over the chasing pack, were the hot favourites to win last night's encounter at Boonyajinda Stadium.

The Glass Rabbits, who spent most of the first leg in Thai League 1 in the relegation zone before climbing to 10th place with a late charge, started in a bright fashion.

They took the lead in the 13th minute when Surachart Sareepim headed the ball low to the right and Buriram goalkeeper Siwarak Tedsungnoen could only get a hand to the ball after it had crossed the goal line.

Buriram did not take long to even the score.

Buriram's Supachok Sarachart beat the off-side trap to pounce on a through pass from his own half but was fouled by Bangkok Glass goalkeeper Korapat Nareechan inside the box. Brazilian Diogo Luis Santo came up and calmly converted the resulting penalty to make it 1-1 for the Thunder Castle.

The Glass Rabbits were mostly pinned to their own half but looked dangerous on the counter-attacks.

The winner for Bangkok Glass came in the 84th minute when David Bala planted a sizzling shot into the net after a nifty exchange with Toti.
