CHIANG RAI: Prodigy Pitchamon Opasniput stole the limelight after winning both girls' U15 singles and doubles titles yesterday at the northern leg of the 2019 SCG Junior Championship at HP court.

The 12-year-old Chiang Mai-born shuttler defeated Natchawee Sittitheeranant 21-8, 21-15 to claim her maiden honour. The two girls then teamed up to defeat Sasiwaran Kanthongnak and Pitchanart Chaiwattana 21-10, 21-11 in the doubles decider.

"This is a very good start for me this year," said Pitchamon, who won four domestic titles and the Jakarta Open Junior Championship last year. "I hope to win national team spot in the near future and play in the Olympics and World Championship."

Petchuang Foopinwon won the boys' U15 singles title, while Purinat Saikamma and Noppakao Praiwan took home the doubles crown.

Elsewhere, Thanachote Larpbumrong and Mingmook Miaman claimed the boys and girls' U17 singles honours, while Pansa-on Pannachet and Theeranan Pasitthitiphan won the girls and boys' U13 events respectively.
