Past winners Atthaya Thitikul and Kanyalak Preedasuttijit will lead the Thai challenge in the third edition of the Ladies European Thailand Championship next month, organisers said yesterday.

The event will again be held at Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Pattaya from June 20-23.

The €300,000 (approximately 11 million baht) tournament is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the Thai Ladies Professional Golf Association (Thai LPGA).

The tournament features 126 players -- 70 from the LET rankings and 40 from the Thai LPGA rankings plus 16 through sponsor invites.

Atthaya and Kanyalak, among other Thai players, will try to keep the trophy on home soil.

Teenage sensation Atthaya Thitikul lifted the trophy in the inaugural edition in 2017 and became the youngest ever LET winner at the age of 14 years, four months and 19 days.

Twelve months later Kanyalak raced to a 15-stroke victory.

Phoenix Gold president Chanya Swangchitr said: "It's a great honour that Phoenix Gold will host this important ladies' golf tournament for the third consecutive year. Over the past two years, history has been made in this tournament and we have good memories.

"We are glad to welcome leading golfers from around the world to compete in the tournament."
