Stall

Stall

Why did soldiers dismantle a roadside food stall in the northern town of Pai in Mae Hong Son province?

A) Because they want to encourage everyone to eat at popular Japanese restaurant chains.

B) Because it’s too cold for anyone to be outside.

C) Because the stall was being used as a front for drug trafficking.

D) Because it featured a cartoon logo resembling the face of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra. The “Strawberry @ Pai” stall sold strawberry and fruit products that came with a caricature of a smiling, square-face man. Given that the ousted leader is sometimes affectionately referred to as “Square Face”, military officers apparently found this stall to be a threat to national security. They confiscated all the products bearing the Thaksin logo including 20 jars of strawberry jam, eight bottles of strawberry wine, and six bottles of orange juice before dismantling the stall. However Khaosod English reports that the stall’s owner says that the soldiers didn’t give him any reason for tearing down his business and he plans to file theft charges against them.

TEACHER

What prompted a creative writing teacher to resign from the New Mexico high school where she worked?

A) There wasn’t an ounce of creativity to be found there.

B) She realised she could make more money as a stripper.

C) The food at the cafeteria tasted too horrible.

D) One of her students wrote a story about Jesus handing out marijuana to the sick. The teacher, who worked at Cleveland High School, had assigned her students to take a fairy tale or legend and rewrite it in modern times. One student chose to adapt the biblical story about Jesus giving bread and fish to those in need with the pot-laced narrative, according to AP. The story caused enough controversy to result in the teacher’s resignation.

BROS

Men, how can you convince your partner or family that you need to have nights out with the boys?

A) By promising to do the dishes for the rest of the week.

B) By offering to set up your single pals with your partner’s available friends.

C) By vowing to be home at a reasonable hour.

D) By citing that it’s good for your health. Feel free to reference a study conducted by scientists at Germany’s University of Gottingen, which found that male bonding is more likely to lower a man’s stress levels and reduce anxiety. To reach this conclusion, researchers observed groups of Barbary macaques, a type of ape that exhibits extremely similar human-like social behaviour. It was found that stress hormone levels soared when male macaques were with their partner or family members, but declined considerably when they were in a group of other males. Scientists also found that stress-related illnesses only seemed to occur among females or couples, reports the Telegraph.

However, don’t be surprised if you also get compared to an ape…
