Prom

Prom

How did a Washington state high school senior ask a girl to prom?

A) Through a Facebook post.

B) Via a singing telegram.

C) He asked her dad's permission.

D) By strapping fake bombs to himself. Ahead of La Center High School's prom, the 18-year-old student decided to get creative (or so he thought) with his explosive proposal. He wore a vest filled with paper-tube props made to look like bombs and stood in the cafeteria at lunchtime, holding a sign reading: "I kno it's a little late, but I'm kinda… the bomb! Rilea, will u be my date to prom?" Rilea said yes, but the school said no, and the student was suspended for five days for his "inexcusable" stunt, according to AP.

WEBSITE

Why did banking giant HSBC have to apologise for a blunder on its Hong Kong website?

A) Because the logo read "HCBS".

B) Because it accidentally posted the PIN for the CEO's ATM card.

C) Because it listed the Standard Chartered contact number.

D) Because a link on its website directed users to a porn site. HSBC made an apology for the error last week, after unsuspecting visitors discovered that clicking on a link for an external website got them more XXX than financial advice. The South China Morning Post reports that the third-party website, which was originally connected with HSBC, had expired and, naturally, taken over by a porn page.

TOURISM

We don't think many Thai drivers know what this sign means, either

What mandatory regulation is being initiated for Chinese tourists entering Thailand by car?

A) They must drive a BMW or better.

B) Authentic Chinese dumplings must be given to border security officers.

C) No more than 15 passengers per car.

D) They must complete a compulsory driving instruction course. The Transport Ministry launched the initiative after receiving reports that some Chinese nationals drove on the wrong side of the road and didn't seem familiar with traffic regulations, according to the Bangkok Post. Thailand is currently experiencing high numbers of Chinese nationals who drive into the country through Chiang Khong, a district which borders Laos and is near Yunnan province in China. The hour-long class comprises reviews of Thai driving rules and road signs, along with information about who to contact in case of an accident. All drivers will be required to attend (and pass) the course before they can continue on their journey.
