Ban crime films now!

It is a matter of the gravest concern that a gold shop robber has admitted that watching "several films about robberies gave him the idea to imitate them", (Online, Dec 7).

It is obviously essential to immediately ban all films about robbery, theft or other crimes before they corrupt vulnerable youth and adults, thereby leading to a flood of such crimes! Thai society plainly hangs in the balance. To save it, these wicked films that corrupt the good morals of viewers must be strictly prohibited forthwith before it is too late!

Re: "PM slammed over ballot idea", (BP, Dec 9).

Many, many years ago, ballot papers in the UK carried only candidates' names, without their party affiliation.

In one election, my mother got as far as the voting booth and "come over all funny".

She was unable to recall which of the candidates represented the party she wished to vote for. So she guessed.

When we checked the results the next day, we discovered that she was one of 47 people in her constituency who had voted Communist.

I have often wondered how many of the other 46 votes were for similar reasons.

Why on earth does Gen Prayut wish to increase the opportunities for ignorance in the voting booth?

Doesn't he have a Ministry of Education that is working so hard to eliminate ignorance? ... Oh, wait, I get it.

Nothing sinister here

It may surprise "unwelcome pensioner" (PostBag, Dec 8) to know that the requirement to lodge a TM30 "Notification Form for House Master, Owner or the Possessor of the Residence where Aliens have stayed" was passed as law in Thailand in 1979 (Section 38, Immigration Act).

That Chiang Mai Immigration has for the past few years enforced this law is not harassment, but rather Thailand actually enforcing its existing immigration laws.

I can't help but wonder how "unwelcome pensioner" would be treated in their country of citizenship if they failed to comply with local immigration laws.

The dangers of denial

More weather catastrophes have been predicted for America.

Severe snowstorms that could turn into tornadoes are expected to hit the United States in the next few days.

I hope all those Americans who voted for climate change denier Donald Trump are proud of themselves for the future they are giving to their children.

Many people ask will Donald Trump survive four years of the presidency.

But I'm asking can the world survive four years of Donald Trump!

Who needs the EU?

Thanks Sir Lance Rayong for your well written letter, "EU grants galore" on Dec 9.

According to a Danish university study, there is absolutely nothing that shows, that EU-member countries have larger economical benefit than non EU-member countries.

I personally voted yes to joining the EU due to fact that the Brits wanted to join the EU.

We were told it was all about free trade, and what did we get: An ever-growing evil EU empire taking away our money and freedom.

I hope you Brits will get out without a deal with the EU.

The EU need you more than you need them.

And my next hope is Denmark follows you for same freedom you gave us Danes in 1945.
