Hua Hin ready to stage challenger events in November

Thailand will host two challenger tennis tournaments at Hua Hin Centennial Club from Nov 2-15.

Suwat Liptapanlop, president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT), told a press conference yesterday that the ATP Challenger Tour and the WTA 125K Series EA Hua Hin Open will be presented by Singha Corporation.

“We are ready to host the two tournaments at Hua Hin Centennial Club which has 11 tennis courts with its centre court having a capacity of a minimum 1,000 seats,” said Suwat.

The ATP Challenger event will commence on Monday with the final to be contested on Sunday while the WTA 125K tournament will be played Nov 9-15.

Taiwanese Lu Yen Hsun (world No.77), Indian Yuki Bhambri (105), Israel's Dudi Sela (113) and Japanese Yosihito Nishioka (152) will be playing against Thai wild cards Kittipong Wachiramanowong (855), Prachya Issaro (880), Puriwat Chatpatcaroeng (895), Warit Sornbutnark and twins Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana in the men's event, winner of which will receive US$18,000 (648,000 baht).

In the women’s event, Zheng Saisai (76), Nao Hibino (79), Yaroslava Shvedova (82) and Kurumi Nara (83), and Thailand's Luksika Kumkhum (196), Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (419), Kamolwan Buayam (422) and Boonyawee Thamchaiwat (631) will be vying for the top purse of $20,000 (720,000 baht).
