Sukosols deny selling Bangkok plot

The Sukosol family has denied selling a prime land plot in Bangkok for a record-high price, saying they are only interested in leasing.

The family owns the land and issued a statement on March 12 insisting it was not going to sell a plot on Phloenchit Road, sized around three rai.

"Contrary to information in recent articles published in both Thai and English-language media regarding the plot of land in the Chidlom area next to Central Department Store and Soi Somkid, the owners of this land have not sold the property, nor are they in discussions to sell the property, as stated in various articles. The owners are solely interested in short-term and long-term leasing of the property," the owners said.

The statement is aimed at dismissing an earlier report in February about a possible new record-high land purchase at the plot where there used to be Morakot parking lot located between Central Chidlom and Soi Somkid.

According to the Treasury Department, the appraisal price of land on Phloenchit Road for 2023-26 is 1 million baht per square wah, representing an 11% increase from 900,000 baht for 2016-22.
