KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon upset world No.2 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan on Saturday to reach the final of the $350,000 Malaysia Masters badminton tournament.
The world No.5 prevailed 21-15, 16-21, 21-19 in a match that lasted 70 minutes at the Axiata Arena in the Malaysian capital. The victory improved Ratchanok's head-to-head record against her Japanese rival to 7-10.
Ratchanok will face world No.1 Tai Tzu-ying in Sunday's final. The Taiwanese star earlier defeated Carolina Marin of Spain 12-21, 21-15, 23-21.
