Jasmine one shot behind leading trio at LPGA Tour's Pure Silk

Williamsburg: Thailand's Jasmine Suwannapura shot a five-under-par 66 in the first round of the LPGA Tour's Pure Silk on Thursday.

Jasmine, also known as Thidapa, was tied for fourth with Brooke Henderson of Canada, Scotland's Gemma Dryburgh, and US stars Katherine Perry and Jacqui Concolino.

They were one shot behind co-leaders Anna Nordqvist of Sweden, England's Bronte Law, and Jennifer Song of the US.

Nordqvist rallied after bogeying her third hole as the Eskilstuna native made five birdies on the back nine, including holes 13-16, at the Kingsmill Resort course.

"I feel like I've played a lot of good -- well, can't say good golf -- but I feel like I've played a lot of solid golf," Nordqvist said.

England's Law fought the windy conditions but still turned in a bogey-free round. She chipped in for eagle on the par-five third hole and added a birdie on the par-four seventh.

"I started finding myself with a good score. Nothing more to it," Law said. "On days like this when it's windy just got to keep grinding all day, take the chances when they come."

Song birdied all three par fives in her bogey-free round in the final event before the US Women's Open next week at the Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina.

"It was a bogey-free round, so I was extremely happy about that," Song said. "Course conditions are great. Greens are firm and pretty much everything was going well." bangkok post/afp
