The Thai League 1 season will restart with the top-of-the-table clash between Ratchaburi and True Bangkok United on Sept 12, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) announced yesterday.

The 2020 campaign was suspended in March after four rounds of matches due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ratchaburi and Bangkok United are the only two teams with perfect records.

While Bangkok United have been title contenders for a couple of years, Ratchaburi are considered a surprise package.

Their meeting at Ratchaburi's Mitr Phol Stadium will be the first match on Sept 12, kicking off the resumption at 5.45pm.

BG Pathum United's new signing Andres Tunez will face his former club Buriram United on Sept 13.

The Venezuelan defender parted ways with Buriram during the coronavirus outbreak earlier this year.

It is claimed that some Buriram bosses are still upset by Tunez's move to a domestic rival as he reportedly promised to play elsewhere.

Promoted BG Pathum, who spent a season in Thai League 2 last term, are fourth on 10 points, while Buriram are 11th in the 16-team team with only four points.

BG Pathum, formerly Bangkok Glass, have also signed Thailand midfielder Sarach Yooyen from SCG Muang Thong United and Thailand striker Chenrop Sampaodi from Port.

Third-placed Port will host fifth-ranked Police Tero on Sept 12. Port's new players, twins Thitathorn and Thitawee Aksornsri, could face their old club.

Defending champions Chiang Rai United resume their campaign at PT Prachuap.

Chiang Rai have been less than impressive since winning their first top flight title last year.

The Beetles have only five points from four games.

However, it may be a good time for the champions to regain confidence as the Killer Wasps have fared even worse with one draw and three losses.

Struggling giants Muang Thong travel to Sukhothai with both having six points.

Thai League 2 will also resume on the weekend of Sept 12 and 13.
