Is McIlroy really easing up?

Although Rory McIlroy protested his innocence from the unkind words he received recently from Tom Weiskopf, it's hard to believe a man who's won around US$60 million and whose net worth is estimated to be $122 million practises as hard as he did when he was just starting out, trying to earn his first cheque.

Human nature is to slow down and to think twice about strenuous activities as we get older, especially if we've achieved success that we human's value in terms in the accumulation of houses, cars, investments, healthy bank accounts etc.

Weiskopf said: "I don't see any frustration in Rory. Life is good and it should be. He's a multi, multi-millionaire and has a kid now. It's like he's satisfied all the time and I know Rory works out but I bet if you watched Dustin [Johnson] and Rory work out, Rory would be a lot of laughs and giggles and Dustin would be balls to the wall and forcing a little bit more on himself and that's what he's done."

Time will tell if Weiskopf's comments push Rory to hit a few more balls but Rory is not the first top golfer to face the criticism that his foot has slipped from the accelerator a wee bit.

Out of Bounds: Here's what one very famous player said after winning a tournament and receiving a big cheque: "Money, if it does not bring you happiness, will at least help you be miserable in comfort."
