PHUKET: Lewis Chalk of Britain and Polish triathlete Krzysztof Hadas each claimed two titles at the 15th Supersports Laguna Phuket Marathon at the weekend.

In the 10.5km race on Saturday, Chalk got the better of Thailand's Anuwat Bunmak after a lengthy shoulder-to-shoulder tussle to win the title in an impressive time of 35:22min.

The Briton showed no signs of fatigue to seal a comfortable win in the marathon event yesterday.

He crossed the finish line in 2:55.48hr, almost five minutes ahead of the second place finisher.

Hadas, winner of the recent Laguna Phuket Triathlon, secured a comfortable victory in the 5km race on Saturday before winning the half-marathon yesterday.

After some close racing with Russian Sergei Zyrianov over the 21.0975km distance, the Polish runner finished first to make it two wins in two days.

Other notable performances at this year's Laguna Phuket Marathon included Sasiwimon Khongjit of Thailand, who took the female marathon title ahead of compatriots Maysinee Sukkuea and Wipawadee Titawattanavijit.

In the women's half-marathon, the top two spots went to Thai runners, champion Suchada Wattanaves and runner-up Nopchaya Handittagul.

Suttida Udomchai led a 1-2-3 Thai finish in the women's 10.5km division.

Some 8,000 runners took part in the annual event, one of Southeast Asia's leading marathon races.
