Thai League 1 leaders BG Pathum United have signed Thailand striker Teerasil Dangda, the club announced yesterday.

On paper, BG's strike force is now the most lethal in the domestic league as Teerasil will team up with Brazilian marksman Diogo Luis Santo who joined the Rabbits recently.

They are two of the most prolific strikers in Thai league history.

Former Muang Thong United star Teerasil joined BG after his contract with Japanese side Shimizu S-Pulse expired this month following an unsuccessful spell.

"I'm delighted to join BG whose target is to win trophies. They show their ambition by signing good players and I'm happy to be part of the team," Teerasil said.

"I'm very excited to work with several familiar faces.

"I hope it won't take too long for me to settle in the new team. My goal is to help make them a better team and take them to glory."

The second half of the Thai League 1 season kicks off today with BG hosting PT Prachuap.

While former Buriram United forward Diogo is expected to play a role against Prachuap, Teerasil is not yet available for selection.

The 32-year-old, the country's best striker of this generation, has just returned from Japan and is serving 14-day quarantine in accordance with the government's Covid-19 measures.

BG will be looking to continue their unbeaten run against relegation strugglers Prachuap.

The Rabbits are seven points clear of in-form Port, who have a game in hand.

Prachuap coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul told a press conference yesterday his men were ready to face BG, who are managed by his friend Dusit Chalermsan.

"It will be an entertaining game although we are near the bottom and will face the leaders. I'd like to tell Ong [Dusit] to field a full-strength side. We are ready to handle them," said Thawatchai, whose team held BG to a draw earlier this season.

Second-placed Port hope to extend their winning run when they visit sixth-ranked Samut Prakan tomorrow.

Since Sarawut Treephan was appointed as Port coach in September, the Lions have won 10 consecutive games in all competitions.

Under the government's guideline, each stadium is allowed to have spectators half of its capacity.

However, the game will be played behind closed door at the request of Samut Prakan following the recent outbreak of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, today's game between Suphanburi and Chiang Rai United has been postponed due to Covid-19 cases in Suphanburi.
