Thai League 1 leaders BG Pathum United moved 10 points clear of second-placed Port after the Rabbits defeated visiting Prachuap FC 2-0 yesterday.

BG Pathum kicked off the second half of the season in commanding fashion after picking up their 14th win of the campaign at their Leo Stadium yesterday.

A first-half goal from Sumanya Purisai and a second-half penalty from Victor Cardozo sealed all three points for the leaders, who now have 44 points from 16 games. Port, on 34 points from 14 games, visit Samut Prakan City today.

Prachuap defender Adnan Orahovac failed to clear a cross from Thitipan Puangchan and the ball fell to Sumanya, who fired home from the edge of the box in the 40th minute.

Prachuap's substitute Anawin Jujeen fouled Sumanya in the area and Brazilian defender Cardozo made no mistake from the spot for his 10th goal of the season in the 69th minute.

Former Buriram United striker Diogo Luis Santo had a few scoring chances after coming on in the second half.

Ratchaburi moved up to third place on 29 points with a 3-1 win over Sukhothai. A double from Sittichok Kannoo (18th and 60th minutes) and a goal from Steeven Langil (72nd) secured the victory for the home team. Ibson scored a consolation goal for Sukhothai in added time.

Also last night, former champions Buriram United beat hosts Chonburi 2-0 to move up to fourth place while SCG Muang Thong United held True Bangkok United to a 2-2 draw.

Today's match between hosts Samut Prakan and Port will be played behind closed door at the request of the home team following the recent outbreak of Covid-19.

In other games, Police Tero host Trat and Rayong visit Nakhon Ratchasima.
