Looking for his third win on the All Thailand Golf Tour, Sadom made nine birdies in a bogey-free round in the season opener at Rancho Charnvee Resort and Golf Club.

He was at 16-under 126 after two days while 21 golfers could not finish their rounds due to darkness after play was suspended for almost two hours because of lightning and storm.

World No.172 Gunn Charoenkul, the highest-ranked player in the field, was tied for second with Settee Prakongvech (65) and Charng-Tai Sudsom (65). They sat four shots behind the clubhouse leader.

Narathiwat-born Sadom, who last won at the Thongchai Jaidee Foundation event in 2019, admitted that the result exceeded his expectation.

"I am quite happy but I did not expect to have such a low round," said the former national team player, who won the 2017 Pattaya Open.

"I hit pretty solid today and made some nice putts."

Danthai Boonma, who won here in 2016, also shot a 62 for 11-under to stay tied for fifth with Pawin Ingkhapradit (63) and Atiruj Winaicharoenchai (67).

Pavit Tangkamolprasert, who is defending his title, posted a 68 for joint 12th place along with Panuphol Pittayarat (64) and Chapchai Nirat (65).

The projected cut is five-under 137.

Teenage sensation Atthaya Thitikul, one of the four female players in the field, improved to a 68 after a 71 in the opening round for a total of 139.

Amateur Ratchanon Chantananiwat, who turned 14 two this week, was at five-under with two holes to play.

The seventh edition of the tournament, hosted by Thai legend Boonchu Ruangkit, offers a total purse of four million baht.
