Poom Pattaropong fired a final round 65 to win by one shot at the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship 2021 in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday.

Trailing the leader by a shot after round three, Poom closed with a six-under-par 65 to win the season-opening All Thailand Golf Tour event on 27-under 257 at the par-71 Rancho Charnvee Resort & Country Club in Khao Yai.

Sadom Kaewkanjana was second on 26-under 258 following his final-round 65. The two-time ATGT winner finished a shot ahead of third-placed Settee Prakongvech, who closed with a three-under 68.

"This was my first tournament this year and I didn't expect to be in this position because I didn't play well last year," said Poom, whose round included an eagle and four birdies.

"It was not until the eagle on the 14th that I felt comfortable today."

Poom took home 600,000 baht at the four-million baht tournament, the first event on the All Thailand Golf Tour 2021. Sadom got 380,000 baht while Settee received 220,000 baht.

First-round leader Natipong Srithong closed with a 67 to finish tied for fourth on 22 under with Atiruj Winaicharoenchai (65) and Kwanchai Tannin (66).

In his professional debut, Denwit David Boriboonsub finished 11th after posting a 67 for 20-under 264.

Defending champion Pavit Tangkamolprasert (71) and 2019 winner Itthipat Buranatanyarat (64) shared 24th on 15 under with Amarin Kraivixien (64), Rattanon Wannasrichan (70) and Sarit Suwannarut (70).

Thongchai Jaidee shot a closing 67 to share 29th with England's Matt Killen (69).
