Thailand lost their seventh straight match at the 2021 FIVB Women's Nations League after going down to Turkey 3-1 in Rimini, Italy, on Sunday.

The Thai team kicked off the third week of preliminary round by claiming their first set win (25-23) in the annual tournament but were no match for the Turkish team who cruised to victory by winning the next three sets 25-12, 25-20, 25-9 with ease.

Meryem Boz was Turkey's leading scorer with 24 points, followed Hande Baladin, who had 16. Onuma Sittirak led the Thai team with 14 points while captain Pleumjit Thinkaow had eight points.

The result was to be expected as the team are full of veteran players, who were called up to replace the original line-up made up of young players who are part of the squad for the 2024 Olympic qualifying.

Unfortunately, more than 10 players of that squad tested positive for Covid-19 at the training camp.

Thailand take on Russia in their second match of the third week at 3pm on Monday. They will conclude the third week of action with a match against the Dominican Republic tomorrow also at 3pm. All matches will be shown live on Channel 3HD (33).

In the first week, Thailand lost to Japan, South Korea and China in the 16-team event. They lost to the Netherlands, Serbia and United States in the second week.

The top four teams after five weeks advance to the semi-finals.
