Dusit Chalermsan's first Thai League 1 game in charge of title contenders Port ended in a draw as his men rallied to claim a point from their opening match of the season against Police Tero on Sunday night.

New Port coach Dusit has Sergio Suarez to thank for the 3-3 draw as the Spanish striker helped them level the scores twice during the home game which was played at PAT Stadium.

After guiding BG Pathum United to their maiden top-flight title last season, Dusit took over the reins of Port during the break.

However, just six minutes into the match he found his team trailing Police by a goal, scored by Evandro Paolista.

Suarez cancelled out the visiting team's advantage with a strike in the 23rd minute but barely a minute had passed when Evandro hit the target again and put Police back in front.

Isaac Honny widened the gap a little after the half-hour mark but David Rochela succeeded in reducing the deficit to one goal shortly before the break.

Port were more organised in the second half and their efforts paid off in the 54th minute when Suarez put them on even footing with Police.

The home team missed two good opportunities late in the match to walk away with three points, but substitute Nurul Sriyankem fired the ball over the bar and Nelson Bonilla failed to capitalise on a pass from Go Seul-Ki.

Defending champions BG Pathum United also had to be content with a draw last night as they were held 1-1 at Chonburi.

Diogo Luis Santo put Pathum United ahead in the 17th minute before Chonburi striker Dennis Murillo levelled the score in the 68th minute.

The Rabbits were reduced to 10 men a minute later when left back Yordrak Namuangrak fouled Murillo and was given his marching orders by the match referee.

Meanwhile, hosts Chiang Rai United and Samut Prakan City played to a 2-2 draw.

Siwakorn Tiatrakul (59th minute) and Bill Rosimar (82nd) scored for the home team, while Chaiyawat Buran (74th) and Chayawat Srinawong (79th) netted for Samut Prakan.

In Saturday night's late games, hosts Buriram United started the new season in an unimpressive manner and were held to a goalless draw by Suphanburi.

In another match, newcomers Khon Kaen United were defeated 2-0 at home by Ratchaburi.

Steeven Langil gave Ratchaburi lead in the 26th minute before Derley made it 2-0 in the first half injury time.
