Thailand completed their group stage with a perfect record, beating India 5-0 in the Uber Cup in Aarhus, Denmark, on Wednesday.

It was Thailand's third win in Group B after they defeated Scotland and Spain by the same scoreline in the BWF world women's team championship.

With their place in the quarter-finals already guaranteed after their victory over Spain on Tuesday, the Thai team continued their impressive form against the Indians to finish the preliminaries as group winners.

Pornpawee Chochuwong won the first rubber for Thailand when she defeated Malvika Bandos 21-15, 21-11 in the singles match.

Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai made it 2-0 by beating Ashwini Ponnappa and Reddy N Sikki 21-16, 21-12 in the doubles.

Busanan Ongbamrungphan put the tie beyond India's reach with a 21-16, 18-21, 21-15 win over Aditi Bhatt.

Puttita Supajirakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai then defeated Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela 21-17, 21-16 before Supanida Katethong completed the whitewash with a 21-19, 21-15 win over Tasnim Mir in the final singles match.

Thailand finished runners-up after losing to Japan in the final of the previous tournament in 2018 for their best ever Uber Cup result.

The ongoing edition was postponed from last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the Thomas Cup, Thailand were due to meet Algeria in Group A, hoping to make it to the last eight.

Meanwhile, Indonesia qualified as Group A champions after edging Taiwan 3-2 for their third straight win.
