Despite playing with 10 men for more than 75 minutes, Buriram United beat Nakhon Ratchasima 2-0 in Thai League 1 on Sunday night.

Buriram's Rattanakorn Maikami was sent off after tripping Kwame Karikari who went clear on goal after 12 minutes at Chang Arena.

But with 10 men, the Thunder Castle were still the better side for long periods.

Piyapol Panichakul opened the scoring for the hosts after 61 minutes and Samuel Rosa added the other in the 72nd minute.

It was sweet revenge for Buriram who lost to the Swat Cats at the same venue last season.

It was also the former champions' fourth straight win.

Buriram lead the table on 19 points, one ahead of Bangkok United who have a game in hand.

Muang Thong United, who were reduced to 10 men, stunned Chiang Rai United 1-0 in a dramatic fashion.

Willian Popp scored the winner in injury time after teammate Marco Ballini was dismissed after fouling on Bill Rosimar who beat an offside trap and was heading to Muang Thong's goal in the 14th minute.

The game then became one-way traffic but the Beetles failed to find the back of the net with Kirins goalkeeper Peerapong Ruangnin in outstanding form.

Three minutes into added time, Jesse Curran's cross perfectly found Popp whose header ended Chiang Rai's winning streak at three games.

"It was an exciting game. I told my players not to give in," said Muang Thong coach Mario Gjurovski.

"We have to give credit to our players for their fighting spirit."

Muang Thong are fifth on 12 points, while Chiang Rai have 14 points in third place.

Defending champions Pathum United are fourth on 13 points.

Buriram next face Ratchaburi on Sunday. Bangkok United, meanwhile, travel to Ratchaburi tomorrow.
