Thai League 1 champions BG Pathum United moved up to second place after defeating Suphanburi 2-0 on Sunday night.

Brazilian striker Diogo Luis Santo scored both goals after 52 minutes and in injury time.

The Rabbits have 41 points, 10 behind runaway leaders Buriram United and two ahead of Bangkok United.

With seven games remaining, the title seems to be the Thunder Castle's to lose.

In Sunday's other late game, Muang Thong United drew 1-1 with Chiang Rai United in a battle of two former champions.

Henri Arnier gave Muang Thong the lead in the 64th minute and Getterson dos Santos equalised for Chiang Rai after 84 minutes.

Earlier on Sunday, Buriram comfortably won 3-0 at Nakhon Ratchasima with goals from Jonathan Bolingi, Supachai Chaided and Suphanat Mueanta.

Buriram coach Masatada Ishii praised his men for their hunger for goals.

He singled out forward Supachai, saying he is a high-quality player.

Ishii said he hopes the striker continues his good form to win the scoring award at the end of the season.

Supachai is currently joint third with Muang Thong's Willian Popp in the scoring chart.

They each have socred 12 goals, one behind Khon Kaen United's Ibson Melo and Nongbua Pitchaya's Hamilton Soares.
