Newly crowned One featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon Singha Mawynn is eager to put his world title on the line against an opponent he's been waiting for years for a rematch -- No.1 contender Marat Grigorian.

The two kickboxers will reunite at One X at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on March 26.

This will be the Thai's chance to avenge a loss against Grigorian four years ago and prove that no man in the featherweight division can defeat him.

"There are a lot of great athletes in my division, but because I lost to him in our last fight, I'll need to prove myself by beating him in this upcoming fight," he said.

So far, Superbon has torn through the One featherweight kickboxing division with aplomb.

He first defeated Sitthichai "Killer Kid" Sitsongpeenong in his organisational debut, but more recently the Thai beat Giorgio "The Doctor" Petrosyan for the inaugural kickboxing strap with a spectacular KO finish.

That performance earned him the 2021 One Super Series Knockout of the Year.

After every accomplishment, the target on the world champion is growing larger by the day.

With over 140 fights to his name and the One featherweight kickboxing World Grand Prix still in progress, Superbon could truly challenge any opponent. But his first choice was the Armenian-Belgian Grigorian.

"I have made a lot of improvement in the last four years, especially improving my punches and defence," Superbon said. "My game plan to beat him is either by KO or decision."

While Superbon is a World Games gold medallist and multiple-time Muay Thai titleholder, Grigorian has won 13 out of his last 14 fights.

Most recently, Grigorian defeated Andy Souwer in the second round of their quarter-final bout in the One featherweight kickboxing World Grand Prix.

Even though the Hemmers fighter had to withdraw from the tournament at the semi-final stage, Superbon granted him the chance for a fight to make good on his last outing against the man.

"The meaning of rematches is to be able to fix the mistakes from the past," Superbon said.

In the meantime, catch all the action at One: Lights Out on Friday on AIS Play beginning at 6pm while Thairath TV32 will air a same-day delay of the event at 10.40pm.
