The Malaysian rider crossed the finish line in 2:30.45 hours to win the 117km stage in Sakon Nakhon.

Raymond Kreder of Team Ukyo from Japan finished second and Muhammad Elmi Jumari of the Malaysian National Team was third.

The second-place finish was enough for Dutchman Kreder to take over the overall leader position with a time of 10:47.17 hours, replacing HRE Mazowsze rider Alan Banaszek of Poland, who crossed the line in fourth place yesterday.

Thanawut Sanikwathi of Thailand Continental Cycling Team finished seventh, Ratchanon Yaowarat of Thailand National Team came 11th while Sarawut Sirironnachai of Thailand Continental Cycling Team was 12th.

Malaysia's Terrangganu Polygon Cycling Team are still leaders in both Team General Classification and Best Asean Team categories with an aggregate time of 30:43.45 hours.

"We still have a chance to win the team general classification," insisted Ratchanon.

"There are still three stages left and we are aiming to win at least one stage.

"Every team that came to take part in this tournament is strong. It is good for our team to compete against strong teams and strong cyclists," added the Thai rider.

Today's fourth stage begins in Sakon Nakhon and ends in Nakhon Phanom with a total distance of 176km. The race starts at 9am.

The annual meet is one of Thailand's most prestigious cycling events.

The 2022 edition ends on Wednesday with the winner receiving the trophy graciously donated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
