Worrawoot's squad meets Malaysians at SEA Games

The Thai men's football team will face Malaysia in their opening match of the SEA Games in Vietnam next month.

Following yesterday's draw, Worrawoot Srimaka's men will also meet Cambodia, Singapore and Laos in Group B of the biennial event which was postponed from last year due to Covid-19.

In Group A are hosts and holders Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Timor Leste.

The top two teams in each group advance to the semi-finals.

The men's football tournament at the SEA Games is for U23 players.

The tournament kicks off on May 6 as Thailand begin their campaign against Malaysia the following day.

The semi-finals are scheduled for May 19 and the final will be on May 22.

Worrawoot will seek his second gold medal as coach after his success at the 2017 SEA Games.

Worrawoot, 50, also won three golds as player.

In the women's event, Thailand are in Group B with Myanmar, Laos and Singapore.

Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia are in Group A.
