Thai Phetdarin front-runner for cycling crown

Phetdarin Somrat won the second stage of the Women's Tour of Thailand 2022 in Mukdahan yesterday.

The Thailand Women's Cycling Team rider made a 30km solo escape and crossed the finish line in 3:29.36 hours to win the 134.2km stage.

Hannah Seeliger of Australia's Cycling Development Foundation was second while Siti Nur Adibah Akman Mohd Faud of the Malaysian national team came third.

Another Thai cyclist Kamonrada Khaoplot of the Thai national team was fourth, followed by Vietnam's Bui Thi Quynh.

Phetdarin also led the overall standings with a total time of 5:41.32 hours.

The Thailand Women's Cycling Team were leaders in the team general classification with a time of 17:16.18 hours.

The Cycling Development Foundation of Australia were second on 17:22.46 hours and the Malaysia national team third on 17:23.10 hours.

Today's third and final stage, covering 83km, starts in Mukdahan at 9am.

The champion will receive the trophy graciously donated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The tournament is a venue for Southeast Asian riders to get ready for the SEA Games in Vietnam next month.
