Rodtang Jitmuangnon proved he's still a dominant force in the division when he dismantled Jacob Smith in the One flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix quarter-finals earlier this year.

The One flyweight Muay Thai world champion is now preparing to square off with Savvas Michael in the semi-finals of the tournament at One 161: Moraes v Johnson II on Aug 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. However, he also has another opponent on his mind.

"The Iron Man" is hoping to score a rematch against his old rival Tenshin Nasukawa of Japan after he was handed a controversial loss in their first meeting in June 2018.

The Thai faced Nasukawa in a kickboxing match at Rise 125, where the two striking stars battled for six rounds.

Rodtang maintained good ring control throughout the affair and continuously pressed his opponent.

Nasukawa survived Rodtang's pace thanks to his technical prowess, but the fight looked to be going the Thai superstar's way.

However, it was the Japanese athlete who was awarded the win in the end, much to the chagrin of the fans in attendance.

Nasukawa recently announced his retirement from kickboxing, which spurred Rodtang to take to social media to challenge him to a rematch.

The 24-year-old posted a video of himself training on a heavy bag, with a message directed at his nemesis.

"Tenshin Nasukawa, how can you retire since there is still no real closure between us?" Rodtang wrote.

The Japanese striker has decided to focus solely on boxing, but it is clear that Rodtang is aching to run the bout back.

Both Nasukawa and Rodtang are considered legends of the striking sports.

Rodtang has become a household name over the last three years.

He is unbeaten in One's flyweight Muay Thai division and has held the world title for three years.

The Thai phenom has also won titles at MAX Muay Thai and Omnoi Stadium, and his overall record of 268-42-10 includes wins over the likes of Jonathan Haggerty, Rodlek PK Saenchai, and Petchdam Petchyindee.

For his part, Nasukawa is a multiple-time world kickboxing champion who holds titles in three divisions in Rizin.

He has a record of 105-5-1, with more than half of his wins coming by way of knockout.
