Mixed doubles stars Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai booked their berth in the final of the US$370,000 BWF Singapore Open yesterday.

The Thai top seeds defeated Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai of Malaysia 21-17, 16-21, 22-20 in the mixed doubles semi-finals of the BWF World Tour Super 500 event at Singapore Indoor Stadium yesterday.

They will play third seeds Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping in today's title decider after the Chinese pair beat compatriots Guo Xinwa and Zhang Shuxian 21-8, 21-9.

Women's doubles duo Supissara Paewsampran and Puttita Supajirakul failed to join their fellow Thais in today's action after they lost to Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti of Indonesia 19-21, 21-13, 21-19.

The Indonesians set up a title showdown against China's Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu after the fifth seeded pair beat compatriots and sixth seeds Du Yue and Li Wenmei 21-18, 21-18 in the second semi-final.

The women's singles final will be a battle between Pusarla V Sindhu of India and Wang Zhiyi of China.

Third seed Sindhu, the Olympic silver and bronze medallist, defeated Saena Kawakami of Japan 21-15, 21-7, while Wang denied Aya Ohori of Japan 21-14, 21-14.

World No.43 Kodai Naraoka of Japan defeated China's Zhao Junpeng 21-18, 25-23 to claim his place in the men's singles final.

Naraoka had earlier upset fifth seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the last 16 and knocked out India's HS Prannoy, a player ranked 24 places higher than him in Friday's quarter-finals.

He will play the winner of the second semi-final between reigning world champion and ninth-ranked Loh Kean Yew of Singapore and world No.6 Anthony Ginting of Indonesia.

The 25-year-old Loh is hoping to become the first Singaporean to clinch the men's singles title at the tournament in 60 years.
