Thailand defeated Taiwan 3-0 and advanced to the quarter-finals of the AVC Cup for Women 2022 in the Philippines on Wednesday.

World No.14 Thailand, who had won their last five meetings against the Taiwanese, continued their supremacy with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 victory for their second successive win in Pool B following their 3-0 victory over Australia on Monday.

Thailand, who finished eighth in the FIVB Nations League 2022 in Turkey last month, lost to Japan 3-0 in their opening match on Sunday at Pasig City's PhilSports Arena.

They finished the preliminary round on six points from two wins, securing the second spot in Pool B.

They will meet a third-placed team from Pool A in the last eight.

In Pool A, Vietnam defeated South Korea 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-16).

The hosts Philippines and Iran were due to meet later.

Unbeaten Japan will play their final Pool B match against Australia on Thursday. In Pool A, China will meet Iran and South Korea will face Philippines.

In the quarter-finals on Saturday, China will play Australia while Vietnam will face Taiwan.

Japan will play a fourth-placed team from Pool A.

The quarter-final matches will be shown on ONE31 TV channel, and PPTV HD36 application and YouTube online channels.

Meanwhile Workpoint TV (23) will broadcast live the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship which will be held in the Netherlands and Poland.

The championship will take place from Sept 24-Oct 16. Thailand will play Turkey in the opening match on Sept 24, starting at 6pm.
