Thailand ended their FIVB Women's World Champioship 2022 campaign with a 2-3 (25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 25-27, 13-15) defeat against United States in Pool F at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland, on Saturday.

Thailand took the first two sets before succumbing to a US rally as they bowed out of the championship with their fourth straight defeat in the second round.

Thailand also lost to defending champions Serbia 0-3 (23-25, 17-25, 15-25) on Friday.

They exited the tournament with a 4-5 win-loss record.

Both teams held a one minute's silence before the game to mourn the victims of a shooting incident at a day care centre in Nong Bua Lam Phu, northeast of Thailand, which left 36 people dead, including many children.

The US claimed their seventh win since the start of the tournament against two two losses.

The reigning Olympic champions denied the Thais two match points in set four to seal a comeback win as they finished their last 16 round on a high note.

Thailand's opposite hitter Pimpichaya Kokram delivered the match high of 20 points, all in attack, backed up by outside hitter Chatchu-On Moksri with 18 points, including an ace.

Two middle blockers led the US scorers. Haleigh Washington contributed 15 points, including two blocks. Chiaka Ogbogu added another 14, also including two blocks.
