Thai League 1 leaders Chonburi face a tough assignment against third-placed Bangkok United on Saturday.

After eight matches, Chonburi have 21 points, one ahead of defending champions Buriram United.

Bangkok United are third on 17 points with a game in hand.

Chonburi cannot afford a slip-up at home today as they could be overtaken by Buriram, who host lowly Nongbua Pitchaya.

Chonburi coach Sasom Pobprasert said it would be a difficult game for his men.

"Bangkok United are a strong team and remain unbeaten this season," said Sasom.

"They have many good players like [Brazilian forwards] Heberty [Fernandes] and Vander [Luiz]. We cannot underestimate them but we hope to get a win."

The Sharks' strike force will be led by Brazilian Danilo Alves, the league's current top scorer with eight goals.

Chonburi have won six matches in a row.

They beat Khon Kaen United 3-0 last week with Alves scoring a goal from the penalty spot.

Bangkok United coach Aurelio Vidmar said he was not under pressure to defend the team's undefeated record.

"We got off to a fantastic start to the season and hope to get more points," said the Australian.
