Newcomers Lamphun Warriors claimed their first Thai League 1 victory of the season when they edged struggling Nongbua Pitchaya 1-0 last night.

Kike Linares's goal near the hour mark lifted the Warriors off the bottom place in the table, pushing them up to 14th place in the 16-team top flight.

Earlier on Friday night, Felipe Amorin scored in the 77th minute to help Chiang Rai United pick up three points following a 1-0 victory over Nakhon Ratchasima.

Felipe made up for a missed opportunity in the first half when the Brazilian forward fired a long shot home 22 minutes after the break.

After a goalless first half which also saw Nakhon Ratchasima's Abdulhafiz Bueraheng miss a chance, both sides shifted gears in the second half.

Chiang Rai coach Emerson Pereira said: "These three points are very important for our team and tonight we fought for our fans. We will still need a lot of hard work to keep producing good results throughout the season."

Nakhon Ratchasima coach Kevin Blackwell said: "It is a pity that we conceded goal towards the end, we did miss chances to claim a point from this game."

The Beetles moved to the fifth place in the table with 18 points while Nakhon Ratchasima remained in eighth place with 12 points.
