ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon Singha Mawynn will defend his world title for the second time when he faces ONE featherweight kickboxing world grand prix champion Chingiz Allazov on Dec 3 at ONE Fight Night 5 inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
The divisional king was initially slated to take on the Azerbaijan-Belarusian star earlier this year, but an injury forced Allazov to pull out. Now, with a new date set, fans can prepare for a match-up that promises high intensity and powerful shots.
Superbon has been on a warpath in the featherweight kickboxing division since debuting in ONE midway through 2020. He is unbeaten inside the circle and has wins over Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and Marat Grigorian.
But it was his win over striking legend Giorgio Petrosyan last year that really put his name on the map in the promotion. The Thai dynamo landed a devastating head kick on "The Doctor" to instantly put his lights out in the second round of their bout at ONE: First Strike.
Superbon earned the divisional crown with the KO victory, and he went on to defend it with a unanimous decision win over Grigorian at ONE X in March of this year.
His dominant run of form against a string of dangerous competitors has many arguing that he could be in for a long stint as world champion, but his upcoming opponent will almost certainly offer an intriguing challenge to the 32-year-old.
Allazov stormed his way through the ONE featherweight kickboxing world grand prix, defeating both Samy "AK47" Sana and "Smokin" Jo Nattawut in the opening round of their quarter-final and semi-final meetings, respectively.
He then went on to score a hard-fought unanimous decision win against old foe Sitthichai in the grand prix final to earn the tournament's silver belt and his chance to take on Superbon for the ultimate prize.
With his world title shot confirmed, Allazov will endeavour to bring every weapon in his vast arsenal to the circle on Dec 2 -- meaning fans are in for a guaranteed firefight between two striking superstars.
