Bangkok United strengthened their grip on second spot in Thai League 1 following a 3-0 victory over Sukhothai last night.

Defender Sarawut Kalayanabundit was the villain for visiting Sukhothai as he first conceded an own goal in the seventh minute and was then red-carded at the hour mark.

The Angels' two other goals were netted by Mahmoud Eid (19) and Willen Mota (71).

Earlier Police Tero claimed three points at their home ground with a 1-0 victory over Ratchaburi last night.

Ratchaburi controlled the game in the first 30 minutes but were unable to cause much trouble to Police defence.

Nattawut Munsuwan broke the deadlock on 72 minutes when he fired home a rebound from close range to secure the win for Police.

In Saturday night's late games, Lamphun Warriors pulled off a major upset as they routed former champions BG Pathum United 3-0 at home.

The Warriors got the goals from Sarawut Innpaen, Bill Rosimar and Maung Maung Lwin.

The surprise victory came in Brazilian coach Alexandre Gama's first game in charge of Lamphun.

In another upset, bottom-half Khon Kaen United stunned visiting Port 1-0 on Saturday night.

The winning goal for the home team came in the first half injury time when Hamilton Soares fouled Khon Kaen's Joao Grommen and a spot kick was awarded after VAR consultation. The penalty was converted by Jakkrit Palapol.

It was Khon Kaen's third victory in four matches and it extended their unbeaten run in the league to 10 games.

Meanwhile, a northeastern derby between hosts Nongbua Pitchaya and Nakhon Ratchasima ended in a 1-1 draw.
