A late rally helped Port escape a shock home defeat at the hands of Thai League 1 cellar-dwellers Nongbua Pitchaya as they eked out a 2-1 win last night.

Nongbua Pitchaya took the lead with a goal from Alvin Fortes in the last minute of the first half when he converted a penalty kick after Port's Elias Dolah was penalised for committing a handball inside the box.

In the second half, Port had several chances but Bordin Phala and Worachit Kanitsribumphen were denied by the Nongbua defence.

Port equalised in the 81st minute when Hamilton Soares chipped the ball over a wall of Nongbua defenders.

Two minutes later, Port netted the face-saving winner when Martin Steuble opened the ball for Teerasak Poeiphimai to guide a header into the net.

In another match last night, hosts Sukhothai wasted a one-goal advantage to allow Lampang to pull off a 1-1 tie.

Baggio had struck for Sukhothai on 54 minutes but Kritsana Kasemkulvilai hit the mark for the visitors 10 minutes later to level the score.

Earlier on Saturday night, league leaders and defending champions Buriram United trounced Police Tero 3-0.

Goran Causic's 37th-minute strike for the Thunder Castle was followed by goals from Peeradon Chamratsamee (84) and Supachai Chaided (90+5).

Also, Chiang Rai United defeated Khon Kaen United 3-1 at their home ground.
