Buriram, Angels to face off for FA Cup

Buriram United coach Masatada Ishii is happy that his team have reached the FA Cup final following a 2-0 victory over Port at Ratchaburi's Dragon Solar Park Stadium on Wednesday night.

The two goals for the Thunder Castle came from Suphanat Mueanta in the 59th minute and an own goal gifted by Port defender Airton Tirabassi by deflecting another blistering shot from Suphanat.

The result means that defending champions Buriram United remain on course to sweep all three domestic trophies this season.

After the match, Ishii made no effort to conceal his joy.

"Today we are very happy that we have won and qualified for the final," he said.

"The players had worked very hard and I would also like to thank our supporters who came here to cheer us during this game -- it had a powerful effect on the morale of our players and they kept fighting throughout the game.

"Now that we have reached the final, we want to win it as well.

"I am not worried where the match will be played. It is a one-off thing and it is good for both finalists that the match is played at a neutral venue."

Bangkok United, the only team to beat Buriram United in Thai League 1 this season, await the Thunder Castle in the FA Cup final.

In the other semi-final on on Wednesday night, Bangkok United trounced Police Tero 4-0 thanks to a brilliant brace by Willen Mota.

The scorers for the Angels were Thitiphan Puangchan (13), Willen Mota (73, 84) and Mahmoud Eid (79).

Buriram United and Bangkok United are scheduled to square off in the title showdown on May 28.
