Thailand edged Indonesia 3-2 for their third successive win in Group B at the BWF Sudirman Cup Finals at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in Suzhou, China, yesterday.

The victory meant Thailand finish as group winners as they advanced to the quarter-finals of the mixed team tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.

Mixed doubles duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai beat Dejan Ferdinansyah and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 21-17, 21-19.

Kunlavut Vitidsarn rallied to beat Jonatan Christie 12-21, 21-12, 22-20 in the men's singles tie.

In the women's singles, Pornpawee Chochuwong scraped past Putri Kusuma Wardani 15-21, 21-14, 21-17.

Men's doubles pair Supak Jomkoh and Kittinupong Kedren lost to Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto 11-21, 19-21.

Women's doubles duo of Jong- kolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai also fell to Apriyani Rahayu and Siri Fadia Silva Ramadhanti 17-21, 21-19, 13-21.

In the other Group B match yesterday, Canada beat Germany 3-2 but both teams had already been eliminated prior to their final group match.

Malaysia and Taiwan finished as Group C champions and runners-up while South Korea and Japan qualified from Group D on Wednesday.

Defending champions China, a record 12-time winners, were to face Denmark, another undefeated team in Group A, in the evening session.

This year's edition of the biennial Sudirman Cup has an extra edge because results count towards qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
