Jakraphan Premsirigorn won his second career title at the 3.45 million baht Thailand Mixed Stableford Challenge at St Andrews 2000 in Rayong yesterday.
He claimed the victory after a record 50 points, beating Justin Raphael Quiban of the Philippines.
With a huge 14-point lead going into the final round, the Hong Kong-Thai player comfortably maintained his lead to the very end despite shooting just two birdies and a bogey.
He added three points in the final round for a total of 50 points.
Jakraphan's outstanding performance not only sealed the win but also set a new record in the Thailand Mixed Stableford competition.
It beat the previous record set by American player Sihwan Kim, who won the Asian Mixed Stableford Challenge with a score of 49 last year.
"It was a challenging round for me. The pressure of leading the tournament affected my putting," said Jakraphan.
He began the last round with six consecutive pars and finally managed to break the ice at the seventh hole to earn his first two points of the final day.
This victory ended his long title drought since he won on the All Thailand Golf Tour in Khon Kaen in 2017.
"I am overwhelmed to finally win a tournament again. This victory has given me a significant confidence boost for the remainder of the season. I am determined to win more -- that's my plan," Jakraphan.
Quiban, the only foreigner in the top 10, scored eight points from five birdies against two bogeys to finish nine points off the pace with 41.
Atiruj Winaicharoenchai was third, one point behind Quiban.
He accumulated an impressive 12 points in the final round for a total score of 40. "It's really hard to close the gap on the leader," he said.
