Thailand coach Mano Polking says the War Elephants will be gunning for a victory over Hong Kong when the two sides face off in a friendly on Monday.

Thailand were held to a 2-2 draw by lower-ranked Taiwan in an away battle on Friday.

Hong Kong are also ranked 33 places below the No.114-ranked War Elephants.

Polking, addressing a pre-match press conference along with veteran striker Teerasil Dangda, said his men will be playing for a win in Monday's tussle.

"We want a different result this time, we want to win this match," said the Brazilian-German coach.

"We are focusing on our team as we have to take care of a number of weaknesses in our game.

"We will prepare the team well for this match and we will not underestimate Hong Kong as they are a strong team.

"Stars from the J-League are our key players but it's off-season and fitness of a number of players is not up to the required levels. We are working on their fitness as well."

However Teerasil, who scored a goal against Taiwan on Friday, said most of the players have recovered their fitness and are ready for the game with Hong Kong.

"We have been practising what we need to do in the next match.

"The pitch in Taiwan was pretty uneven.

"It's raining here all the time which makes the pitch slippery but it's not an excuse.

"We just have to play according to the tactics that the team coaches have worked out."

The match will be live on Thai Rath TV and AIS Play at 7pm.
