Poor response for Thai league broadcasting rights deal

The Thai league broadcast rights has attracted bids of just about 50 million baht, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) said on Tuesday.

Thai League Co acting chairman Korrawee Pritsananantakul told Thai League 1 bosses during a meeting that a bid of 50 million baht was well below the FAT's target.

AIS' two-year contract with the FAT ended this year as the company paid the FAT about 400 million baht a year. During its peak, the FAT reportedly received more than one billion baht for the broadcast rights.

With such a low bid, it was proposed at Tuesday's meeting that the 16 Thai League 1 clubs jointly manage their own commercial and broadcast rights.

Korrawee said the FAT will discuss that matter at a meeting on July 3.

Several T1 club bosses attended Tuesday's meeting at the FAT headquarters including Buriram United chairman Newin Chidchob, Port chairwoman Nualphan Lamsam and BG Pathum chairman Pawin Bhirombhakdi.

Suphanat at Leicester

Thailand forward Suphanat Mueanta has flown to England hoping to seal a deal with Championship side Leicester City.

The 21-year-old Buriram star will train with the Foxes who will then decide whether to sign him or not.

"I am well-prepared physically and mentally for the task," said Suphanat, one of Thailand's brightest young stars. "I will work as hard as possible. I am ready for the task."

Owned by Thailand's King Power Group, Leicester were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.
