Two Thai League 1 title contenders BG Pathum United and Port will be looking for their first wins when they play their second matches of the new season on Friday night.

Pathum United, led by crafty Thailand playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin, are scheduled to host PT Prachuap, while Port will welcome Police Tero.

While the Rabbits were held to a 2-2 draw at Police Tero last weekend, Prachuap kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Ratchaburi.

Port fared no better as their opening game against newcomers Nakhon Pathom also ended in a 2-2 tie.

Port coach Surapong Kongthep on Thursday made his intentions clear by saying that he planned to start with his top stars like Hamilton Soares, Tanaboon Ketsarat and Bordin Phala.

Police will be without their first-choice goalkeeper Ukrit Wongmeena, who suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during the first match last weekend, ruling him out for up to six months.

The Fire Dragons are now left to pick either of their two reserve goalkeepers, Sarut Nasri or Nattapat Makthuam.

Surapong told a pre-match news conference on Thursday: "We conceded two goals in our first game and clearly our defence is a major concern.

"However, we'll be playing our first home game of the season, so we are aiming to claim three points from this match.

"Police are a good team and have a good fighting spirit. It will be an exciting match."

Police Tero goalkeeping coach Anukul Kanyayon said: "It is a big blow for us that our top two goalkeepers, Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool and Ukrit Wongmeena, are injured at the same time.

"I am working with the two remaining keepers now. We cannot get a replacement because the transfer window has closed already."

In other games this weekend, Bangkok United will take on former champions Muang Thong United tomorrow and title-holders Buriram United will be at Lamphun Warriors on Sunday.

Bangkok United got off to a fast start to their campaign with a 4-1 win against Uthai Thani, while Muang Thong suffered a 1-0 home loss to Chiang Rai United.
