Two early goals paved the way for defending champions Buriram United to claim their first victory of the new Thai League 1 season as they defeated Lamphun 3-0 at home Sunday night.

Ramil Sheydayev put Buriram in the lead in the sixth minute. Goran Causic produced the second goal 10 minutes later and Leon James added the third in injury time for the Thunder Castle to tame the Warriors.

Earlier on Saturday night, Bill Rosimar scored two goals to help Chiang Rai United pick up three points by thrashing newcomers Uthai Thani 3-0.

Uthai Thani had a chance in the 19th minute but Airfan Doloh's free-kick went over the bar before Brinner Enrique missed the target with a header.

The first goal came in the 33rd minute through Bill and the Beetles had their second when Sanukran Thinjom found the net in the 63rd.

Bill was spot on again from close range in the 77th minute when he collected a pass from Kim Ji-Min.

Also on Saturday night, Ratchaburi suffered a shock home defeat to newly promoted side Nakhon Pathom United, going down 1-0.

Ratchaburi's best effort was thwarted by Nakhon Pathom goalkeeper Wattanachai Srangthongchan in the 36th minute when he saved a shot from Njiva from point blank range.

Nakhon Pathom got the winner in the 63rd minute when Taku Ito planted the ball into the net with a long shot.

Meanwhile, two Thai League 1 teams, BG Pathum United and Port, have left for China to participate in the AFC Champions League play-off matches.

The Rabbits face Shanghai Port while Port meet Zhejiang with both matches scheduled for Tuesday.
