Thailand coach Mano Polking is hoping the War Elephants will tame Iraq at Chiang Mai's 700th Anniversary Stadium on Sunday and lift prestigious King's Cup for the first time in six years.

Thailand, who last won the tournament in 2017, edged Lebanon on Thursday, thanks to an 86th-minute header by veteran striker Teerasil Dangda. Iraq beat India 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw on the same day.

Polking told a pre-match conference on Saturday that his team had no injury concerns but rued the lack of time to prepare for the final.

"We haven't had enough time to get ready for the match with Iraq," said Polking.

"However we have been able to analyse our own game and that of our opponents to work out a gameplan.

"We will try to do our best to win the trophy."

Answering a question, he said: "I am not worried about my future. I am only focused on the final match with Iraq."

Iraq coach Jesus Garcia refused to use the lack of preparation time as an excuse.

"Both Thailand and Iraq are the in same situation as we have had the same number of days to rest before the final," said Garcia.

"The weather and the pitch are also no excuses because every team here in this tournament have to play in the same conditions.

"We will choose the best players who are ready for this game because we want to put on an impressive show for the Thai football fans.

"We are fully focused on the match and we will do our best against Thailand."

Thailand midfielder Supachok Sarachat said he is at ease in the team because "the coach has assigned me to play in the same role as in my club Consadole Sapporo."

In the third-place play-off, India will play Lebanon in the afternoon on Sunday.
