Defending champions Buriram United squandered one-goal advantage twice to settle for a 2-2 home draw with Chonburi in Thai League 1 on Sunday.

The Thunder Castle shot ahead in the seventh minute when Theerathon Bunmathan's corner kick found Lonsana Doumbouya, who had little trouble heading the ball home.

The visiting Sharks were reduced to 10 men after 61 minutes when Willian Lira was sent off for a rough tackle on Buriram's Sasalak Haiprakhon.

Chonburi didn't give in and banged home the equaliser eight minutes later when Channarong Promsrikaew restored the equilibrium.

Striker Supachai Chaided wrested back the advantage for the hosts in the 75th minute but Chonburi took only six minutes to ensure that they didn't return home empty-handed as Murillo Freitas grabbed the leveller.

Bangkok United continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-1 victory over 10-man Chiang Rai United.

Bill Rosimar gave the Beetles the lead shortly before the break. The Angels levelled the score as Manuel Tom Bihr's shot deflected off teammate Mahmoud Eid on 76 minutes. Everton Goncalves scored the winner for the hosts in the dying moments.

Khon Kaen suffered a 1-0 home loss to Muang Thong United.
